A blaze that vibrates and lights up the staircase of a residence. Like the house fireplace, it is the symbol of the home, centripetal and light, it welcomes guests and like a totem magic object, protects the family. The staircase is the spine of the house and the sculpture is perceived fully in motion when walking around it. From the lower floor in a resting position, the resident looks inside the orange – hues fire, meant to inspire. The piece envelops the viewer and produces a hypnotic effect of a tribal campfire as she surrounds it. At night, the sculpture expands through its shadows and colonizes the staircase space.
It is tailormade for a staircase drop but it is hanged like a lamp. Instead of my typical site specific installations were the structure is attached to the architecture, Flame is detached like a sculpture which facilitates production, installation and makes it versatile.
