Overview
3000 s.f. (18) 12″ clear bar globes, (15) 9″ aqua trophy globes, (4) 22″x6″ wall sconce, (5) 24″ semi flush private dining room ceiling domes, (9) 39″ semi flush mount ceiling domes
Goals
Klover Architects, Overland Park, KS, approached me with a traditional reflected ceiling plan and said that they wanted me to propose a completely original art glass lighting concept that would compliment their finishes and the theme. Their suggestion was to make the globes deformed like large bubbles in water.
Process
The architect brought Jimmy, the owner, over to my shop to watch us blow and deform the liquid glass globes. I explained to the owner my concept for blowing the rondels, fusing them together and slumping them into large art glass bowls for the ceiling fixtures. I appreciate the faith that the owner and architect placed in my concept.
Additional Information
After I had completed and installed the project, Jimmy said "Rarely are my expectations exceeded!"
