Overview
This sculpture was chosen as part of the Art in Public Places 2012 Acclaimed Artist Series Purchase Initiative. New Mexico Arts put out a call to artists in New Mexico and the surrounding states to supply artworks for public places.
Goals
The artwork was to act as a focal point in the lobby of the Moriarty High School Performing Arts Center.
Process
I dealt primarily with Kelly Huber, the Art in Public Places Project Coordinator. We covered all aspects of the project, including delivery, installation, and documentation. The Superintendent of the Moriarty-Edgewood School District, Dr. Karen M. Couch, attended the installation and was pleased. Four workmen from the Moriarty school district assisted with the installation.
Additional Information
It was gratifying to place an abstracted figurative sculpture in a town like Moriarty, NM. The Superintendent chose to go with a less conventional and more thought provoking piece for the lobby of this cultural institution.
