Goals
Encore celebrates the legendary musician Duke Ellington who was born and raised in Washington, DC's historic neighborhood of Shaw. The goals of this public sculpture were to create a monumental gateway artwork that would encourage community gatherings and connection to the neighborhood's history.
Process
Collaboration included working with city planners and engineers to install the sculpture in a safe and permanent manner.
