Hopland Band of Pomo Indians
A Chief from the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians reaches for the sky. He is wearing traditional ceremonial costume. The sculpture is 9' tall and 8' wide, cast in resin.
The Hopland Native Peoples built a casino on their reservation and wanted to include artwork that captured their customs and history. Embracing the Sky is located in the fountain that greets visitors at the main entrance. I honored their request to give the entertainment facility a distinctive look that recalled their past.
Once the tribe approved the design, I worked with the GC for plumbing and foundation and installation requirements.
