Overview
A contemporary earth based painting of a tree with moonlight. Sculptural 3d elements combined with metal paint and controlled patina with oil paints.
A sculptural mixed media painting of a tree in the moonlight. A mystical union of jungle life, light, and the night. The frame was built to be 3″ deep to have a presence and allow the framing to be a part of the artwork itself. A wall sculpture. I utilized found wood pieces that I tore apart and placed where they felt integrated with the painting. The materials are then part of the subject matter where one feeds into another as all of life itself. The color palette is comprised of natural patina, rusting, in combination with the luminosity of oil paints. The combination of the matte metal paint and the oil creates various perspectives depending on the time of day and light source.
