Overview

Competition finalist for Retail Mall and Entertainment Center in Dubai on Dubai Marina Mall. Concept is Light -Manta Ray. Structure is steel and calwall with illuminating lights and reflections in marina.. Interior sculpture designed for space.

Goals

This is the ultimate integration- the retail mixed use building and the sculpture are one. Conceptually a manta ray, the form glows at night. A light show illuminates through the translucent roof of the manta ray form. A bridge traces out across the water.

Process

This was designed while I was an architect with Callison RTKL for a design competition in Dubai UAE for the client Eemar. It was a finalist in the competition. The interior hanging sculpture, " SunBurst" was designed by Jo Schneider Design LLC as an added element.

Additional Information

The Dubai Marina Mall was designed as a sculpture that illuminates the night and stands prominently on the banks of the water.
