Overview
Princess Cruises had concept sketches for a lounge on the top deck of a new ship the Pacific Dawn Princess. This was a sports bar by day and a disco lounge at night with cruises originating in Australia. As a primary revenue engine for the ship, this space had to serve 2 functions and be equally attractive in both roles.
Goals
Integration of the dual function was critical, and the very close tolerance to as built conditions required in a retrofit were especially demanding. Using retractable video screens for sporting events and music video while providing and dynamic led embedded dance floor were paramount
Process
I developed the initial concept with 3D Cad (see rendering) into a configuration that could be shipped from the USA to the Singapore ship yard and installed by my crew in under 2 weeks.
Additional Information
It was wildly popular with the Australian cruisers.
