Overview
“Dog Star” can be viewed and appreciated from all advantage points. It is located in a roundabout on Bonnie Brae and Scripture Street in Denton, Texas. Standing on a 4 foot tall concrete base, this 11 foot tall by 8 foot diameter sculpture is fabricated out of mild steel and painted with urethane paint. It is inspired by Sirius, a star that is made up of 2 small stars spinning around each other. The similarities between two stars rotating around each other and cars circling a roundabout bring a smile to my face. This “emergency” red painted project creates a beacon for travelers looking for the hospital district.
Goals
Goals

Process
This project is a collaboration between the artistic design work of Elizabeth Akamatsu and the fabrication expertise of Angelina Steel.
