Leeds Nuffield Hospital
Overview
The design brief was to create a piece that worked on many levels to satisfy the wide range of people who see it at the hospital. The work is 8m high, suspended on tensioned cables in the form of a double helix. The pattern of materials represents a piece of DNA related to research at the hospital.
Goals
The work needed to fill the double height atrium and fit in with the materials used in the new-build hospital. The four bases of DNA were represented by materials from the building.
