Overview
Polished stainless steel, mist, light.
Goals
The "tree" is positioned at the end of a row of real trees, in a busy intersection at MixC World in Shenzhen, China. It is heavily abstracted, and minimal, but then periodically erupts in a diaphanous cloud of mist, forming the tree's canopy. It references the fabrication of nature, and how nature can thrive in these circumstances, but only to a degree.
Process
The work was commissioned through Art Front Gallery, Tokyo by CR Land. They came to me for an idea at this site, as well as 4 other artists for other works in the development. My idea was then proto-typed and modeled to be fabricated by UAP at their facility in Shanghai.
