Overview
Custom copper & stainless steel grill hood designed to float within archway. Includes stainless steel inner hood with custom grease filter & LED edge lighting, features faceted dome with a natural patina finish. All construction built to very tight tolerances due to support frame and assembly with copper dome & then installation of inner stainless steel hood, filter & lighting.
Goals
This project involved ducting to an offset wall but maintaining center of dome within the archway and to blend with the architectural design of the home.
Process
Project started out gathering all field details for full 3D CAD mockup, getting approvals, sourcing materials & components, cutting flat blanks, setup & forming of blanks, creating jigs & positioning fixtures, tacking assemblies, test fitting of assemblies, Welding and controlling weld distortion, sanding seams & polishing to a uniform finish & installing the puzzle pieces.
