Overview
Interactive Public Space including large scale murals (vertical and horizontal), performance stages, sail cloth flags, play equipment, trees, resurfacing, chess boards, signage transformed from dumping grounds and abandoned lots with drug trade, gang violence, % of homeowners declining.
Goals
IMPACT:
350k invested in redevelopment of Darley Park, Weekly Weds. clean ups, 8 nonprofit leaders involved in steering committee for future projects, 15 youth participated in mural designs and 20+ homeowners engaged in design meetings, state and local officials support of future projects
Process
One on one meetings with community leaders about their dreams for Darley Park, design workshops with youth, elders and other residents, securing funding, door knocking with community organizers, political support from local and state representatives
