Overview
The City of Saskatoon, designated Cultural Capital of Canada 2006 commissioned “Cut Out of Time” as the successful submission for its Riverfront Path. The 40' long (eight 5'x10' aluminum panels) art/interpretive installation depicts the history of the Saskatchewan River transportation.
Goals
The river as a traffic corridor used by the First Nation People and later the growing community of Saskatoon. As the city developed into one of the key business hubs within the province the river provided a business link to not only the rest of prairies but the world beyond.
Process
The artist's responsibility was to design, fabricate and supervise the installation of the artwork, including the engineering and production technical drawings. Metallicut and Saskatoon Metal Manufacturing, the two local companies, were the key fabricators of this project.
