Overview

I designed four textile wall pieces to hang over the information desk at the Curt Gowdy State Park visitor center. The wall measures about 8' X 20'. Staff of the Park supplied me with an excellent array of reference photos taken at the Park of people enjoying the outdoors. I selected those I liked best and proposed the arrangement and cropping of those images in my presentation. I supplied them with a color palette that I would use.

Goals

I think that my quilt art was selected in part because the selection committee thought that it was a good fit for the log cabin style of the visitor center architecture. They were happy with the colors and texture that I planned to use, since they would easily compliment the colors and texture of the structure. They were happy with the family friendly images of people enjoying the Park.

Process

The Park staff supplied me with excellent images that I could use in my design. After my Proposal was approved, I completed the pieces in the outlined time frame. I communicated with Clint Taylor of The Design Studio Inc. and with Mabel Jones, Senior Planner of the Wyoming State Parks. We came to an agreement on paint color for the wall and for an installation date. I installed the work with help of contractor scaffolding. I have supplied them with high quality photos of the artwork to use in brochure materials.
