Goals
My goal for this project was to create a graphic mural that would celebrate and amplify the Westwood Neighborhoods’ efforts to create a unique, sustainable, more economically vibrant community. I was specifically inspired by the communities focus on health and the idea that a healthy body equals a healthy mind making us more critical thinkers and empowering us to pursue our passions and dreams. To portray these concepts I created this graphic mural. This mural is titled “ Cultivating Our Community”. In this mural I depict people growing with the corn. Maize also known as corn is one of the most primitive forms of organic sustenance for humans and serves as a symbol of our past and our future. Through time we have learned to be resilient, and constantly growing with new ideas. Together we grow this knowledge that empowers us to help our community and our family. The corn gives us strength, energy, peace and balance. We embrace this corn as a symbol of where we come from and where we are going.
