Overview

Located at the entrance of the new Imagine Playground at Dublin Sports Grounds in Dublin, California, this sculptural environment emphasizes our uniquely human ability to transcend difference and find common ground through conversation. The artwork for the region’s first All Abilities Playground in the region is comprised of two monumental silhouetted human heads symbolic of our humanity— both our differences and similarities. The work of art also includes words chosen by the community, laser cut in metal, and embedded in the surrounding plaza.

Goals

The goal of this project was to create an ADA compliant artwork which would be welcoming to people of all ages and backgrounds and which would endure intense public contact in the the playground setting.

Process

The monumental artwork for "Conversation" was accomplished by working closely with the All Abilities Imagine Playground design team and fabricator Industrial Stainless International, El Paso, Texas.

Additional Information

As a celebrated addition to the Dublin, California community, the scale model of this monumental artwork created by artist Barbara Grygutis, is now displayed at Dublin's sister city in Bray, Ireland.
