Overview
The artist was hired by Insight Design who were creating the interiors of a model home for pre-sales of two and three-bedroom luxury condominiums.
Goals
The artwork is the focal point in the custom-built library and was photographed for prominent use in the developer's marketing of the project. As the artwork was visible to vehicular traffic through floor-to-ceiling corner windows, it needed to be bold and eye-catching to passers-by in vehicles as well as revealing detail when viewed up close. It was important that the colors in the artwork were specific to the palette specified by the designers and complemented the rest of the sophisticated interior furnishings.
Process
The artist was supplied with paint chips, carpet and fabric samples for color references. The brief was to create an artwork with organic shapes and a textural surface. The artist provided three digital compositions to the interior designers for approval. Their final selection was enlarged onto canvas to the finished size of 33.5 x 60 inches and glazed with successive layers of semi-transparent paint. The artist worked in close collaboration with the designers to achieve the exact colors desired.
Additional Information
Pre-sales of the properties were very strong and the development sold out within weeks.
