The client wanted a color kinetic and music driven light sculpture to provide a pleasing aesthetic to the entry to the Music Hall entertainment venue on board the Oasis of the Seas. The ship was undergoing a $165 million updating and this piece was planned as an iconic new artwork for the ship.
The primary goal was to integrate kinetic color and music into the entertainment venue.
I worked up 8 possible approaches to the artwork and submitted them to a team at International Corporate Art which is the Oslo based art consultant that provides artworks to many RCC cruise ships. The team chose one of the designs for further development and I worked with MRD Lighting in New York to integrate the RGB strip lighting in the artwork into the available technology on the ship.
