Overview
“Birds” Sculpture Detail. 14’Hx15’Wx8’D. Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo, Robert Lee Hawkins Forensic Institute of Psychiatry. Public Art commissioned by the Colorado Council on the Arts. Installed 8/2008. A place-marking, entry sculpture in polychrome stainless steel and Cor-ten steel.
Goals
The client wanted a positive uplifting message for its troubled residents to be inspired by. I proposed an abstract flock of birds that soars upward conveying a positive and uplifting message to staff, residents and visitors.
Process
The art selection committee was comprised of the staff and directors of the center.
