Overview
Dallas County offices commissioned this bronze eagle as a symbol to commemorate the outgoing Justice of Peace and Commissioner, whose favorite animal is the American bald eagle. The eagle faces the commemorative portrait bust of the Commissioner, that has been placed on the other side of the reception desk to welcome visitors to the Dallas County Offices.
Goals
The goal was to create a bronze sculpture that would symbolize a personal yet also a community connection for the retiring commissioner and his decades of service to the County.
Process
Interviews and personal meetings with the Commissioner, the art consultant and the project enginieer led to recounting personal impressions and memories of the Commissioners years in service of the Dallas community. The eagle was chosen as a personal favorite of the Commissioner, a symbol of fairness, watchfulness and the American spirit.
