Overview
This was a competition for a new sculpture at the Green Bay Botanical Garden. As an abstract sculpture to serve as a remembrance of a beloved donor, we wanted to bring in a spiritual element without an overt emphasis on religion. We designed this sculpture to be a series of chrome-plated doves to reflect the surrounding landscape and appear to be “spirits.” The attached powder-coated ribbons of steel show the playful path of the doves, giving the illusion of motion, and representing the specific colors of the garden; purple, yellow, chartreuse, and white.
Goals
We were charged with creating a sculpture that would fit into the site and integrate a spiritual element as a commemoration of one of the donors to the garden space.
