Overview
Focused on the connections between music and visual arts as tribute to the music scene of Galway, this permanent art project expresses the rhythm of instrumental compositions by Ravel. The project aims to present how time, space and colour occur as sensorial phenomena, as new colour compositions appear and disappear according to the position of the sun through the day.
Goals
Having the artwork integrated into the architectural building contributes to the building's identity as it became visible at large distance, allowing thus both the school and the local communities to appreciate and experience the artwork.
Process
The process started with a site visit and a workshop with the students in high school to sketch some ideas on how the students could translate music to geometric shapes. It was very inspiring for me to see how the students worked and the colour palette they choose. The final design was made by be with some of the input students gave during the workshop.
