Overview

As par of the Emeryville Public Market redevelopment, Oxford Properties & City Center Realty Partners, through Emeryville’s Percent for Art Ordinance, expanded and renovated Christie Park. Local artist Sofie Ramos’ first permanent public artwork, Chocolate Cake w/Rainbow Sprinkles, serves as a draw to all visitors especially children and connects the park to the gourmet food hall. The ten foot sculpture is made with steel, wood, acrylic and foam and adds a playful but complex meditation on decadence, indulgence, and festivity.

Goals

The artwork serves as a way finder, attraction for children, and thematically connects to the gourmet food hall.
