Overview
This was a below ground, 90 foot hallway that was the main corridor to the dining facility for both staff and visitors. The before picture shows the austere look of the passageway.
Goals
The goal of this project was to introduce bright, colorful, natural elements to this long, dark corridor and to provide a positive distraction to those patients, families and staff that visit the dining area.
Process
We were contacted by the director of facilities and the CEO of CHI Immanuel Hospital. They came to our studio to discuss design, and together we created, in real time, the warm to cool (or sunrise to sunset) concept utilizing local botanical images.
Additional Information
We designed (3) 30 foot backlit Rex Frames with LED lighting, printed to fabric that is easily changed using a channel and silicone bead to secure the fabric. Three electrical junction boxes were installed first, and hidden behind the frames. It was a stunning installation and made for a whole new, vibrant experience.
