Bozzuto Greene Art needed a sculpture in the niche in the lobby of the apartment building being built as part of a larger redevelopment in NW Washington, DC. I proposed a design, they approved the design, they chose the color. I used automotive paint because it is so shiny, bright, eye catching and low maintenance. The sculpture is titled SILVER BLADES OF GRASS, 8’H x 4’W x 2’D, painted steel.

Integrating a sculpture into the overall design and style of the lobby was the goal of the project. The three tall vertical twists filled the niche with lively silvery lines and shadows while referencing nature in this urban center. The silver automotive paint fit the contemporary sleek interior design and the shine catches the light and curves so that it seems to move and catches the eye as residents pass by. Everyone seems to love it.

I was brought in in the final phase of building the apartment building. Bozzuto Green Art had the interior design and wanted a sculpture to fit into their exiting plan. My work can adapt to almost any situation. We all worked well together and the SILVER BLADES OF GRASS look great as a focal point in the lobby.
