Overview
There are 6 total panels that are 30″ x 42″. These were commissioned for a new tenant finish in an existing building. The lobby has glass fronts leading into back offices.
Goals
The designer wanted the artwork to function visually on both sides of the glass walls of the interior lobby. Although my blown/fused glass was opaque, light still transmitted through them so the"light" image from the glass could be viewed from the inside as well as the glass surface from the outside.
Process
I worked closely with the designer to establish the size and design of the suspended framework. I also sampled the glass on every step of the progress to gain approval of the designer and the client.
Additional Information
I had been experimenting with blown/fused glass on smaller artwork projects. This commission represents my first commercial use of my innovation of blown/fused glass. I appreciate the faith that the designer and the client placed in me to establish this work.
