Overview
Provide signature artwork for the 10,000 square foot lobby of 600 Brickell Avenue. A skyscraper in Miami. The artwork is 19 feet by 12 feet and is the singular artwork in the lobby.
Goals
The building's architecture was inspired by the four classical elements: earth, fire, air and water. Our Genesis Series artworks were also based on this same philosophy and the owners recognized this synergy and commissioned us to create something specific for the lobby. Our goal was to 'energize' the space with the artwork...also a goal shared by the owners.
Process
We worked with Perkins & Will in the initial stages. They designed the lobby and had suggested a large artwork for the west wall. We then met with the owners of the building and showed them our artwork who then commissioned us to create something new but based on existing series of artworks called The Genesis Series.
Additional Information
The owners were looking for a local team of artists and being in Miami, we qualified for that. The artwork was made on Miami Beach. The owners were concerned with the Feng Shui of the artwork but once they worked out that our artwork represented 'Prosperity' (It's a financial building) they were on board.
