Overview
Braman Lights is a site-specific light sculpture installed on Braman Motorcars new enlarged dealership located in West Palm Beach, Florida. This public art installation incorporates a computerized LED light system that is about 300 feet wide by 40 feet tall. The light system programmer has more than twelve different light programs that are presented throughout the year. The light sculpture comes on half an hour before sunset-slowly transforming the architecture into a dynamic light experience throughout the night.
Goals
As an award winning luxury car dealership- including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche and others, Braman Motorcars wanted a public art project that was engaging and dynamic. An artwork that would compliment their new facility with a dramatic site-specific solution that would enliven their location on Okeechobee Blvd. The architects and owners were interested in integrating the public artwork into the façade of their parking structure for new cars. Braman Lights satisfied these goals and brings a magical experience to Braman Motorcars every evening.
Process
The process of creating Braman Lights was a productive and effective collaboration among the architects, the artist and the owners of the dealership. Several approaches were explored and the larger full scale exterior of the façade was the final solution.
