Overview

Fabrication of Daniel Gordon’s Boston public art sculpture. Benchmark Arts was hired by the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston to work with Daniel to translate his tabletop paper maquettes into a 12′ x 16′ x 16′ steel and aluminum sculpture for his first public art commission. Benchmark Arts’ project scope included concept development, engineering, fabrication, and installation. Completed during Covid, the artist and curatorial team participated in the project remotely. The sculpture was fabricated in our facility in Southern California, transported to New England, and installed in Boston by a combination of our Southern California and Boston staff. The project was completed in approximately 18 months.

Goals

Our goal for the project was to work with the artist and commissioning entity to faithfully translate the artist's creative intent to a full-sized public art commission.
