Overview
The Beehive Bridge connects two neighborhoods in downtown New Britain that have long felt separate. Undulating honey-hued polycarbonate and aluminum railings and bee-themed sculptures bring an old connector to life and celebrate the City’s history in a bright new way.
Goals
The ornamentation and illumination of the pedestrian accessible areas of this overpass was a driving factor in the overall design of the project. The Bee Hive sculptural elements and illuminated railings acted as a destination, inviting the residents of the respective neighborhoods the opportunity to enjoy common space.
