Overview
Barn Doily is a 4ft X 4ft mural that was made mostly by spraying acrylic paint through a crochet doilies, some vintage and antique and one that was 5ft in diameter that was artist made (same doily used for the Stain 36). Sections were then outlined in paint to create depth, definition, and define composition. It is my interpretation and version of traditional barn squares/barn quilts seen often on buildings particularly in rural places in the United States.
Goals
This piece is currently installed on the front of the Dubuque Museum of Art in Dubuque, Iowa. While not originally included in the proposal for a solo show of indoor two-dimensional work, I suggested the piece as a possible addition during the duration of the indoor show to coordinate and tie together my indoor work with the other two person show that revolves around rural and farm life.
