Overview
Ceramic tile/sculptural metal relief on exterior facades of corner building and four foundation piers. Commissioned to design and execute treatment for exterior facade of piers for a major corner building at Station Square in Arlington, VA. Materials included imbedded and relief applications of colored porcelain tile, stainless steel, bronze, and brass. Artist intent was to soften the urban context with a windswept landscaped narrative executed in muted colors and inspired by 19th C Japanese woodblocks. The title is derived from a poem by Mathew Arnold – “Dover Beach”.
