The sculpture is inspired by the surface of the moon, the sunsets and the night sky

Goals

Alamar comes alive with captivating public art, designed by Arizona’s most creative minds to connect neighbors, inspire learning and enrich the lives of those who call this place home. From dynamic sculptures and pavement art to interactive works that double as play spaces, our Public Art Program will become a one-of-a-kind attraction in its own right.

Process

A sculpture with a precast concrete culvert that is stained with a black and white color representing the surface of the moon in the exterior and the night sky and stars in the interior.

Inside the sculpture there is a concrete base to create a flat surface to walk into and a concrete bench to sit on and experience the interior colors and change of color lights.

A light source is projecting stars in the interior to create a whimsical experience from a distance and also for people to walk through it.

The piece is presented on top of landscaping rock surrounded by grass
