Overview
New construction Arlington Lutheran Retirement Home in Naples Florida. Designer wanted dynamic artwork for front entrance to facility to hang on curved wall. The Angel of Arlington is a 4 x 8 ft. acrylic mixed media piece that hangs like a tapestry with rods. Artwork needed to be religious in nature for a Lutheran religious based high end health care facility. Artist designed three large scale commission pieces to fit facility and also did four smaller abstract pieces for other locations in the building.
Goals
Designer used alot of prints and photographs to fill the many wall spaces, but needed some dynamic large scale original artwork for the front marble entry way, the entry way to the health care center and a interpretation of Jesus for the main auditorium.
Process
Merlino Designs has worked together with the artist Bonny Hawley on many projects, all high end retirement centers around the world. Her work is also hanging in a facility in Japan and in the main Lutheran campus in Arlington Heights Chicago, Illinois and numerous other Merlino Design Projects. I live in Naples Florida so it was an honor to be chosen for this project right in my home town. I have worked with this designer and his team on projects all over the world, so it was easy and fun to have a project right at home. In my interpretation of Jesus- I thought of how Jesus would look if he came to Naples Florida, of course he would be wearing gold and walking thru palms, artwork is a large scale 4 x 8ft. acrylic mixed media collage painting that hangs like a tapestry.
