Client: Private Commission

Overview

Dimensionally fused glass on stainless steel is the media selected by client for this project. The glass is hand-cut, layered and stacked and fused in a kiln to varying temperatures to create a lovely texture. The theme client was interested in representing was an abstract representation of a sunset with billowing clouds over a body of water. The glass is mounted to the hand-brushed aluminum panel with stainless steel standoffs. The art was installed in a prominent room in client’s home.

Goals

Design was achieved through meetings with client about color, types of glass and metal background. Goals included integrating commission into the existing furnishings and color schemes of home.

Process

One studio meeting with client, followed a home visit to take measurements and collaborate on colors, textures and scale. The project included working one-on-one with the client to synthesize ideas about the art commission into the final project.
