Overview
Archaeology is inspired by historical objects that were found on the Wallis Ranch site prior to the development of the land. These include a hook, a pulley, a horseshoe and a gear. The sculptures remind us of the rich agrarian past that existed there a century ago.
Goals
The goal of the artwork is to celebrate and signify the rich agrarian history of the property by featuring sculptures that are inspired literally by historic objects that were dug out of the ground before any development occurred. Revealing the history that would otherwise have been concealed to the community enriches the experience of living at Wallis Ranch. The result is a modern and timeless monument.
Process
In the process of collaborating with the developer, the city, and community members, a dynamic dialogue took place that unfolded over a few months. All parties involved were very happy with the resulting artwork.
