Overview
“Apogee” is a stainless steel sculpture measuring 6' x 20' x 6.5' and weighing 3,800 pounds. It was commissioned by El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California.
Goals
The original concept began with the idea that healthy minds, bodies and spirit are equally important to our well being. The sculpture is a beacon for the main entrance of El Camino Hospital and is intended to engage viewers and invite contemplation.
Process
The commissioners wanted a sculpture of scale to compliment the architecture and landscape while serving as a way finding element. Also, it was important that the work conceptually emphasized well being and healing.
