Overview
This sculpture was meant for children interaction in a hospital courtyard. 15' L x 9 ' T x 3' W. Carved brick and mosaic tile.
Goals
The courtyard area was intimate. with plantings to be used, with paths for approach. The piece was meant for close interaction.
Process
The collaboration was with the architect and a committee. All aspects were approved, initiated, executed, and shipped to the site. All monetary transactions were completed. One member of the committee was absent from the project. This member returned, rejected the project just before it's install. This member had monetary and veto power. Architect contacted me, can you sell the piece? It was sold for 10% of it's value.
Additional Information
Piece was sold to the current owner. It could only be placed in one location. Not an intimate location but children are dropped off by bus each day in front of the sculpture. The church could not provide the complimentary landscape.
