Overview
Ancient Healer was commissioned for a private dining/conference room at the University of Kentucky Hospital. The ginkgo motif was specifically requested to be similar to an earlier piece I had created for another location. Ancient Healer is in three parts with a total of 270 inches x 46 high.
Goals
The Ginkgo tree is one of the world's oldest trees and has been used for healing during all ages, so a fitting images for the hospital, especially since they are starting to incorporate more alternative methods for healing as well. The conference room is large, and can be divided in to three rooms, so each panel has to work on its own, but also make sense when seeing all three together.
Process
I knew what design element they wanted, but worked with the director of UK Art in HealthCare for dimensions etc. An unusual placement for me, but everyone is happy!
