Overview

In 2014 I was contacted by Ideal Projects, a design firm based in the Netherlands, and asked if I would be interested in a commission to use my artwork for a new business class lounge at Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam. The new “Aspire” lounge was designed for Swissport Ltd. The design firm ultimately selected three large paintings. Two paintings were hung on the wall and a third large horizontal painting (three meters in length) was installed on the ground so that it would be seen from above, as in an airplane.

Process

The paintings were photographed by a company in Seattle and sent to the Design firm. The digital files were then sent to a company in Sweden and reproduced on fireproof fabric as gyclee prints. They were then stretched on a frame and installed in the new lounge as a permanent feature. I was initially contacted by email by the design firm about using my work for their project. We communicated through SKYPE over a period of several months to determine the details of the project.

Additional Information

I am currently collaborating with the lead scientist for the Nature Conservancy in Washington State for an exhibition at the Northwest Museum of Art in La Conner WA. The show is called SURGE and addresses the impacts of climate change on coastal areas.
