Overview

Wall sculpture in wood for interior lobby of Amegy Bank. Cañon de Santa Elena was created in layered Baltic birch and bubinga 16ft. x 9.5ft x 6in. It is named after the beautiful canyon in Big Bend National Park on the Rio Grande. Typical of my sculptural work, it is a flowing form inspired by river and rock formations that I find in the southwest desert where I grew up.

Goals

The art consultant had commissioned several artists to create artworks for the entire 26-floor bank headquarters. They asked me to create a unique sculpture that would contrast with, yet complement, the interior design of the band lobby

Process

was invited to visit the site by the art consultant to see the space and discuss the project with the staff. submitted several designs for the wall; Cañon de Santa Elena was selected.

Additional Information

I enjoy working with art consultants and interior designers to create artworks that compliment their projects.
