Overview

“Aegean Echos”, 28 piece solo exhibit at Headley-Whitney Museum. A four month exhibit with soundscape, poetry and dance interpretations of Steene's work. The works were all based on impressions from the island of Paros, in the Aegean Sea. Paintings on wood using oil glazes over marble dust and metal, as well as collaged prints with marble dust and oil glazes.

Goals

The museum wants to exhibit more contemporary work, and Helene Steene was invited

Process

The artist selected the works, placed them and museum staff installed them. The museum created educational panels of the process of making the works. Stephanie Harris, Contemporary Dance, created a dance based on the art works, and KY poets created poems based on the works, which were performed in the space.

Additional Information

It was wonderful and very touching to see how a dancer and poets interpreted the work.
