Overview
In 2019, AdventHealth opened a new outpatient health and wellness facility in Overland Park, Kansas. Rock Cottage Glassworks was approached by the architect in regards to a custom atrium sculpture. What they were looking for was a piece of art that supported the aesthetics of wellness, something that felt welcoming. The work aimed to unify the interiors with a warm, residential color palette. The 6′ by 8.5′ chandelier showcases ninety-nine blown glass rondels.
Goals
AdventHealth was looking to comfort patients through the finishes and aesthetics of their facility. What Rock Cottage Glassworks was looking to do with this direction was give visitors a unique wayfinding sculpture that welcomed them into the building. The glass colors were chosen in a warm, fall-inspired palette to continue the wood and stone color story.
Process
This project took significant 3D modeling, metal fabrication, and time in the glass shop to come to life.
