Overview
Themes: medical education, research and clinical medicine, commissioned by the Penn State College of Medicine and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of Penn State. Each work is 3’x15′.
Goals
The size and shape of each piece was informed by the extremely long, narrow crescent corridors in which they are displayed. The compositions are informed by the sequential reading of the imagery as doctors, patients and staff traverse the corridors. The works are not seen at a distance in their totality.
Process
I worked closely with the art committee of the med center and specifically with Claire de Boer, Director of the Doctors Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine
and Center Stage Arts in Health. Ms. de Bour is also President of the National Organization for Arts in Health.
