Overview
This project was born out of my client’s life-long connection to butterflies. The focal point, a sphere vibrantly painted with imagery of the butterfly’s grace and beauty is dynamically reflected in the high-polished metal dish. The sphere is LED lit from within to create maximum spectral brilliance in the reflection. The cool of the metal is warmed by a backdrop of raw edged exotic wood, akin to the trees that cradle these beautiful creatures in nature.
Goals
The goals of this project were not only to manifest the butterfly in a fluid and brilliant aesthetic, but to relate to the overall colors and design of the client's home. Flutter resides on the wall of a wet bar located in an area of the great room that can be viewed from numerous vantage points.
Process
My client invited my interpretation of the butterfly, but also directed me in terms of her favorite colors and affinity for natural wood.
