Overview

This wayfinding mural was designed to guide travelers from the expansive parking lot at the Pittsburgh International Airport to the terminal. Measuring at 3.5'W x 500'L this work is made of thermoplastic adhered to concrete. A hidden message is nestled within the lines of the work and the phrase 'A walk down memory lane' can be read in both directions.

Goals

The goal of this work is to guide travelers to the airport with bright colors and offer an unconventional airport experience as so many of these spaces tend to blur together for the average traveler.

Process

I worked closely with Rachel Rearick the Arts & Culture manager for the airport as well as Derek Reese a project manager for the Office of Public Art of Pittsburgh to make this piece a reality. We were assisted in the installation of the work by the Pittsburgh Airport Field Maintenance team.
