Overview

Designed%20as%20a%20resting%20and%20seating%20area%20within%20the%20atrium%20of%20a%20new%20addition%20to%20city%20hall.%20Elements%20related%20to%20the%20surrounding%20landscape%20included%20stacked%20granite%20referring%20to%20the%20local%20mountains%2C%20benches%20shaped%20to%20reflect%20the%20delta%20and%20the%20rivers%20that%20run%20through%20the%20city%20and%20tree%20forms%20that%20celebrate%20the%20million%20trees%20planted%20in%20the%20city.%20Highly%20engineered%20using%20wood%20and%20granite%20with%20internal%20steel%20and%20cables%20to%20suspend%20cantilevered%20forms%20and%20stacked%20stone.%20%20

Goals

The%20goal%20was%20to%20achieve%20a%20place%20for%20workers%20and%20visitors%20to%20sit%20and%20rest%20in%20a%20nature%20based%20space%20within%20the%20city%20hall.%20

Process

Since%20the%20project%20was%20started%20while%20the%20building%20was%20under%20construction%20I%20worked%20closely%20with%20the%20architects%2C%20engineers%2C%20and%20contractors%20to%20create%20a%20seamless%20installation%20timed%20with%20the%20opening%20of%20the%20building.
