Overview

This magnificent mural adorns a 40’x15′ corrugated metal wall, gracing the exterior rooftop terrace of a midtown Manhattan commercial building’s 17th floor. Due to its close proximity to the HVAC system, traditional spray paint was not a viable option. Instead, the entire surface underwent meticulous hand-painting using brushes and rollers. The unique texture of the wall posed a considerable challenge, yet the outcome proved nothing short of spectacular.

Goals

Enhancing Aesthetics and Ambiance: The primary goal was to enhance the visual appeal of the rooftop terrace. This well-executed flower mural added color, beauty, and a touch of nature to the space. It creates a sense of serenity and elegance, which is often a key element in luxury design.

Creating a Focal Point: Serves as a focal point within the terrace. It can draw the eye, provide a sense of direction, and anchor the design. This focal point can be particularly important in larger or open spaces.

Adding Personalization: Commissioned artwork allows for customization. The work was tailored to the preferences of the property manager, brokers, and investors. This personalization makes the space feel exclusive and unique.

Connecting with Nature: Rooftop terraces often lack direct access to nature. This flower mural helps bridge this gap by bringing elements of the natural world to the urban environment, promoting a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Process

The main contact for this project was the property manager. Three concept designs were submitted for review by the commercial property brokers and investors. Once the final design was chosen the work was executed over a four-week span. After minor changes requested by the investors, the work was sealed with a weather-proof polycrylic sealant.
