Client: W Atlanta - Buckhead

Overview

Often referred to as Atlanta’s foremost “chic-meets-rebel luxury destination”, W Atlanta – Buckhead recently marked its 12 year anniversary. With a long reputation for being an inspiring hotspot for guests and locals alike in the city of Atlanta, the hotel had a storied and celebrated past. With the intent of paying homage to the property as an iconic game changer for the city, the design team set to work on a major refresh of the hotel and its public spaces. The focus for the design team was to remain true and authentic to the city's roots and arts culture.

Goals

Several of the commissioned pieces were done in collaboration with local artists, which provided an elevated level of authenticity to the art program and overall design. The integration of native influences with our design concepts was fundamental in our design narrative and thoughtfully implemented throughout the hotel. The art was an integral part in bringing our design narrative to life. We wanted guests to be able to get up close and personal with the artwork and experience it in a way that connects them with the southern culture, the fashion, and the eclectic energy of the city, but in an unexpected and bold way.

Process

The collaboration process was an integral part of this project because it’s filled with visually compelling details. We worked alongside our talented in-house art & styling team during the curatorial process, through sourcing local artists, researching and studying the area, and materializing concepts through development. Working with the local artists and artisans was very productive because they understand and appreciate the place they reside, and that passion was displayed in the featured art pieces.
